Peverell Property Market Update

Almost the end of the second month of 2017 and what is the situation with the property market in Peverell?

Well it's all about the lack of properties available at the moment. Currently there are only 36 available properties in Peverell the lowest this has been for the last 18 months. At present 45 are sale agreed.

Both the sales and lettings market remain strong in Peverell and certainly there are no signs at the moment of this changing. Demand for Peverell continues to be high but with a shortage of properties across most areas of Plymouth is this stopping people putting there property onto the market.

If you are thinking of selling and would like some information about the market, prices and currently speed of sale timescales I would be delighted to help.

We have just sale agreed 3 properties in 3 days so Peverell is still as popular as ever.

Property In Need of Updating

Martin & Co have begun marketing this 3 bedroom semi detached house in Long Rowden for a price of £179,950.

The property requires modernisation but offers good sized rooms and gardens to front, side and rear.

Long Rowden has actually had a few sales over the last 12 months all requiring work starting from £145,000 - £160,000 so I would suggest that this property is slightly higher than the current market value however this house is in slightly better condition than those sold last year so you just never know.

Also with the lack of properties currently on the market we may well see this property sell at a higher price due to supply and demand.

Here is a link to Rightmove giving you full details of the property.

3 Bedroom House with a Self Contained Hairdressing Salon

Are you looking for a house with a potential business on the side then this new listing for Mansbridge Balment could be the one for you.

They have just listed this 3 bedroom house with hair salon for a price of £325,000, they property is located on the corner of Trelawney Road opposite one of the entrances to Central Park.

Due to the unique nature of this property it may not appeal to everyone but certainly this property subject to planning has plenty of potential with the additional shop unit.

The History of Hyde Park Infant School

Hyde Park School is located a short distance from Peverell and has always been seen as one of the reasons many families have moved to Peverell and the surrounding areas.

The school has a long history as it was built on the site of a house once lived in by Sir Francis Drake.

The school opened in 1904 and was originally designed as three schools. This was the only location for most of the children's schooling as it educated them until they were 12 years old. This was when they were considered ready for employment. The school was arranged on three levels with the infant school on the ground floor, the junior girl's on the first floor and the junior boy's on the top level.

The first significant changes to Hyde Park School started during World War 1, when the building was transformed into a hospital. As a result children had to walk to Laira Green School between March 1915 to September 1919.

Normal education resumed again but this time until 1939 when World War 2 disrupted the education at Hyde Park once again. Many school days where spent in the underground shelter when until the 21st March 1941 the school was bombed and the students then had to be educated in temporary venues such as Peverell Park Methodist Sunday School and Hyde Park Social Club. Repairs started in 1942 but where not completed until 1950 which resulted in the silhouette of the school being altered forever.
